This summer, friends from the Netherlands stayed with us for five weeks. We hiked, fished, climbed, cooked, visited family and drove all over Southcentral Alaska, including a trip down the Kenai Peninsula for Salmonfest.
Only afterward did I discover Audio Tour Alaska. I was excited by the product and honestly a little upset that I had not known about it while our friends were here.
We were the ideal customers: international visitors, hours on Alaska roads and endless questions about what was outside the window.
That missed opportunity explains the van project better than any marketing statistic. Travelers do not always need to be convinced they want a product. Sometimes they simply need to discover it at the exact moment it becomes useful.
We created a concept wrap with a clear message, app-store links and QR codes. Someone seeing the van could immediately think, “I could be listening to a tour right now.” That is advertising doing something useful.
